LETTER from pastor tom
Dear Fair Oaks Family,
With August here, summer will be wrapping up soon. I love the summer sun, but I also love looking forward and preparing for the next phase here at Fair Oaks. This fall, we have some great plans that are being worked out as I write. From locating a new Children’s Ministry Director, to smaller adjustments in different ministries, to an over-reaching vision that will touch each of us...God is presenting a new chapter before us.
Coming in September, I will be leading us in an 11-week journey with the series “Leading with your Life.” We will explore and equip ourselves to be the leaders God has called each Christian to be. I want to challenge us to step into the role God has given us to lead people to Christ and lead as Christ lives through us.
We are going to tackle what the virtues of honor, loyalty, purity and integrity look like as we lead with our lives. Then we will study through 2 Timothy, discovering truths of a Christian leader and how we can live them out as Christian leaders.
We will take these topics and dive deeper in thought and life application in our Life Groups. Make sure you don’t miss this great opportunity to connect in community. Our sign ups begin in August. It will be fun to see how the Lord uses you to impact those in your group. Remember the Body is not complete without you.
I also will be sharing throughout this fall the vision God has given me for Fair Oaks. God wants us to have great success in our lives at home, in the work place, and in our community. I believe He is pointing us to a new great awakening for His Glory. Jonathan Edward wrote during the Great Awakening in the 1740’s; “A man of a right spirit is not a man of narrow and private views, but is greatly interested and concerned for the good of the community to which he belongs, and particularly of the city or village in which he resides, and for the true welfare of the society of which he is a member.”
Our community needs quality leaders, God-following men and women of loyalty, honor, purity, and integrity. We need to step into the role of leader for the sake of our families, neighbors, and community. When we lead, then people will follow.
I pray for you and look forward to keeping you up to speed on what is happening at Fair Oaks Church each month.
In warmth and respect,
