LETTER from pastor tom - Keep your Face to the Son
In times of uneasiness and doubt for the future we can become captivated by the negative. Our world is full of questions and fear. There are hurting people in our church family and with those we love beyond. We can get swept up in life so quickly that the shadows of turmoil surround us.
Helen Keller wrote, “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow.” I find her words so optimistic and full of promise. We can lose ourselves in the negatives of life or turn our faces to the sun. The sun offers warmth, life and hope. There is another Son that offers us this and so much more: God’s Son, Jesus.
I choose to look to the Son rather than the shadows cast by the world. He gives us a future and a hope. He gives us purpose and a way to achieve His desires. Looking to our Lord is the way to overcome those obstacles that may seem impassable.
Christian, I don’t know where you are personally in life. I don’t know your troubles, hurts or fears. Though I don’t know your circumstance, our Lord does. Our Lord is here for you. Romans 8:32 says; “Since God did not spare even His own Son but gave Him up for us all, won’t God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else?”
God wants us to have it all. He wants to give us everything: His Peace, His Strength, His Mercy, His Love, His Grace, His Goodness, His Faithfulness, His Steadfastness, the list goes on. He wants you to have everything He has to offer.
Rejoice Christian. Rejoice! Keep your face to the Son and you cannot see the shadow. Turn you face to the Son and He will give you what you require in your time of need.
In warmth and respect,
