The Fair Oaks Men's Ministry had a great time at the 2017 Converge PacWest Men's Retreat in Mount Hermon. The retreat theme was "Choose Whom to Follow," or how to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. The weekend included: excellent messages about following Christ, and great workshops on prayer, apologetics, discipleship, and perseverance in faith. The beautiful setting allowed us to spend personal time in the redwoods, on the beach, and even the golf course. We enjoyed hearing from each man how God is working in different ways in each of their lives and, Lord willing, we hope to take more men next year.
The Fair Oaks women were challenged to "Fight Back with Joy" at this year's Converge Pac West conference. We came back with strategies, hope, and encouragement from Margaret Feinberg, seminar leaders, and the worship band, Tapestry. Oh yeah, there were also plenty of crazy fun times in the "joy zones", with roommates, and at our fellowship night (headed up by Lynette Araujo). The women also donated hundreds of personal hygiene items to Women Alive! A homeless shelter for women in the Monterey area. Check out the group pic and plan on joining us in 2018!
Beautiful ballerinas, fabulous desserts, and lovely ladies of all ages came together as Fair Oaks women celebrated the beginning of the holiday season. Saturday night, November 19th, the Anastasis Ballet troupe blessed us with a performance of worship through dance. Following the ballet the women and girls enjoyed a time of meeting new friends, yummy desserts, and a fun game in the ALC. Some of the men from the congregation came out to help make the night “merry and bright” by greeting us at the door, serving desserts and helping to clean up. We were especially excited that so many guests were able to join in on the night!
Our always generous women also blessed our community by bringing donations of scarves, gloves, blankets, and donations of gift cards/money for MMC to distribute to those in need.
It was a lovely way to “Step Into the Holidays” together.
Rain couldn't keep us from having a scary good time at our Fall Movie night on October 28th. We enjoyed seasonal crafts and games, and a chili dinner, before watching a movie on the big screen in our sanctuary. It was so fun to see all the kids in costume!
We had a great time at our annual end-of-summer gathering! We rang in the church’s 60th anniversary with face painting, live music, a root beer tasting, and lots of fun. Thanks to everyone who helped make the event a success.
We love our seven-acre campus! Church workdays give us an opportunity to help the Facilities team move along various projects and prepare for the upcoming ministry season. We’re so thankful for the 19 volunteers who came out on September 17th (is that the right date?) to remove debris and clean up the shed in our backlot. This area is now ready for Christian Service Brigade’s Bicycle Workshop. We would have done more but, you know, we were two-tired….
Our Fall Ministry Fair included representatives from each church ministry, and gave everyone an opportunity learn more and register for service opportunities. Of course, a delicious potluck capped off the afternoon. If you weren’t able to join us at the Fair, and you’d like more information about service opportunities, please contact the church office at (925) 687-4810 or email@example.com.
Our Men's Ministry took a day trip out to the Oakland A's game against the Houston Astros on April 30th. They had fun with a tailgate BBQ before the game, and were happy that the A's won 2-0.
Fair Oaks Church had the opportunity to partner with area churches and Convoy of Hope. We were able to serve so many people in our community by offering free groceries, health and dental screenings, haircuts, family portraits, hot meals, career service training and much more to the working poor.
Our church community enjoyed a beautiful morning celebrating the mothers in our church. Lead Pastor Tom gave a wonderful message titled "The Voice of Encouragement," all the mothers received carnations, and we shared a lovely brunch on the patio after service.
What a blessing to celebrate as six people participated in the outward demonstration of their relationship with Christ. Lead Pastor Tom baptized three people and Student Ministries Pastor Trent baptized three students as well.
Celebrate our Lord's resurrection and defeat over death together on Easter Sunday was wonderful! We enjoyed beautiful music from the worship band, and an extra special song. Lead Pastor Tom did his last message in the Come Home series titled "Believe it or Not." After the service the kids had an Easter egg hunt with over 2000 eggs, and we all enjoyed a delicious brunch under the beautiful oak tree. Thank you to everyone that came for our Easter service!
