What We Believe

Revelation

God has made Himself known to the world through creation, the Scriptures, and ultimately through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Rom 1:20; 2 Tim 3:16; Heb 1:2

God

We believe in one God eternally existing as three equally divine persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Deut 6:4; Matt 28:19; 1 Jn 4:8

“In essentials, unity. In nonessentials, liberty. In all things, love.” - Augustine

The following nine statements represent what we understand to be the essentials of the Christian faith. These basic beliefs are what we unite around, even as we welcome a wide range of beliefs on secondary issues within our community.

Creation

Out of an overflow of love, God created all things that exist. He is the source and sustainer of all life.
Gen 1:1; Jn 1:1-4; Col 1:16-17

Redemption

In love, God sent His Son to save us from Satan, sin & death & restore us to the life we were made for. We’re saved by grace alone through faith alone in the finished work of Christ alone.
Jn 3:16-17; Eph 2:8; Rom 10:13

Sin

All people have sinned and daily fall short of God’s glorious purpose in creating us. Sin separates us from God and therefore results in death.
Rom 3:23; Rom 6:23; Gen 2:17

Humanity

We believe all humans have been made in the image of God and therefore have inherent dignity, value, and purpose.
Gen 1:26-28; Gen 9:6; Jas 3:9

The Church

All who trust in Jesus are a part of His Church and are gifted by the Holy Spirit to build up the Church to shine forth the glory of God in the world.
1 Cor 12; Matt 5:14-16; 1 Pet 2:9

Marriage

God designed marriage as a harmonious union between one man and one woman as one way of displaying His goodness in the world.
Gen 2:18-25; Mk 10:1-9; Eph 5:31-32

Last Things

One day, Jesus will return to remove Satan, sin, and death from this world entirely and raise His people to everlasting life—to the praise of His glory!
Rev 21-22; 1 Thes 4:13-18
