You are not alone.

A House of Refuge

At Fair Oaks, we believe every life is sacred because every human being is an image bearer of the living God. This includes children in the womb and women who find themselves in unplanned pregnancies.

While our state is working overtime to become an “abortion sanctuary” we believe Jesus offers a better way, and as a community, we’re working to shine that light here in Diablo Valley.

If you’re a woman in an unplanned pregnancy, we’re here for you. Click here to learn more.

  • If you find yourself in an unplanned pregnancy, we know this is a vulnerable and scary place to be.

We want you to know that God sees you and loves you, and as God’s people, so do we. Whatever comes next, you do not need to walk through this alone. As a house of refuge, it’s our desire to be a tangible expression of God’s love in your life.

We imagine you may have some questions, so please read the below to learn more about what we believe and what you can expect from us.

  • Just to put our cards on the table, we believe that life begins at conception and that God deeply loves the child He’s knitting together in your womb, just as He loves you. In light of this, we can never support or encourage you to have an abortion.

We also believe that our God is a God of redemption and grace, and so no matter how you got pregnant, we will never gossip about you, shame you, or abandon you.

  • We will do everything in our power to remove whatever obstacles stand in the way of you having this child. There are people in this church ready to meet with you, throw you a baby shower, connect you with the resources you need, and walk with you every step of the way (both before and after the birth of your child).

We will also hold men accountable for living out their calling to provide and protect women and children.

Finally, if you have ever had an abortion in your past, we want you to know that abortion is not an unforgivable sin and that whatever you have done (or has been done to you), it is not bigger than Jesus’ ability to forgive and restore. As a house of refuge, we want to help you experience that good news, and therefore we are here to pray with you and walk with you through your own journey of healing as well.

We’re here for you!

  • Because we know the real enemy to the cause of life is not women seeking abortions but the abortion industrial complex and the powers of darkness driving it (see Ephesians 6:12), one of the most effective things we can do to see change in our day to plead with God to push back this darkness.

While we can certainly do this at any time, Love Life has an initiative called “Adopt a Week” that we’ve chosen to parter with in order to help cover our valley in continual focused prayer. The idea is that each week, a church in the valley would devote themselves to a special effort of prayer and fasting all week long.

Our week at Fair Oaks will be February 4-10th. Click here to get the details on how you can participate.

  • Our refuge team is the front lines in our ministry to moms in unexpected pregnancies.

From being on an on call rotation for Sundays (to help anyone who comes forward for help during/before/after service) to throwing baby showers to mentoring/walking with moms (both before and after their pregnancy), and everything between, if this is the kind of ministry you feel called to participate in, click here to let us know.

  • Our ministry to moms in need is empowered by the generous contributions of church members who have given strollers, car seats, clothing, temporary housing, and other tangible resources as needed.

If you would like to be on the list to be contacted when a need comes up, click here to let us know.
