A House of Refuge

At Fair Oaks, we believe every life is sacred because every human being is an image bearer of the living God, both children in the womb and women who find themselves in unplanned pregnancies. This conviction has led us to become a House of Refuge in Diablo Valley. Learn more about what this means.

Ways You Can Get Involved

  • Many of us know someone who is considering an abortion. And while we are not here to heap judgment on anyone, we do want to get the word out that other options exist.

The way we get that word out is through people like you sharing the good news that there is a House of Refuge right here in Diablo Valley.

  • As we seek to build a culture of love and life in Diablo Valley, we’re proud to parter with Love Life’s “Adopt a Week” program, the culmination of which is gathering for a prayer walk around the local Planned Parenthood in Walnut Creek.

NOTE: This is NOT a time of protest but a time of prayer & worship, to ask God to do what only He can do. (Click here to read Love Life’s full code of conduct for these prayer walks).

  • Our ministry to moms in need is empowered by the generous contributions of church members who have given strollers, car seats, clothing, temporary housing, and other tangible resources as needed.

If you would like to be on the list to be contacted when a need comes up, click here to let us know.

  • Our refuge team is the front lines in our ministry to moms in unexpected pregnancies.

From being on an on call rotation for Sundays (to help anyone who comes forward for help during/before/after service) to throwing baby showers to mentoring/walking with moms (both before and after their pregnancy), and everything between, if this is the kind of ministry you feel called to participate in, click here to let us know.

  • Because the work is not done simply when a child is born, we also parter with Safe Refuge, an organization that works to come alongside families in crisis and prevent children from falling into the foster care system.

Practically, Safe Refuge provides children with a safe, stable, temporary refuge home, while working to reunite the family as quickly as possible when the crisis is resolved.

Head to the Safe Refuge table in the Lobby after service where you can learn more about how you can get involved with this important ministry.
